PLATINUM CARD REDESIGN
THE INTENT: REIMAGINE THE CAPITAL ONE PLATINUM CARD | ROLE: SR. ART DIRECTOR
This assignment was one of those once-in-a-lifetime types of opportunity. What started as a simple meeting invite turned into months of iterations, testing, and countless hours of collaboration. My role with fellow creatives was to bring ideas on how this new card art would look in the marketplace—especially alongside our suite of products. After numerous concepts across several teams, my design was ultimately chosen and it’s now in over 20M wallets!
THE PROCESS
The best assignments always start with lots of discussions and excitement. This project was no different. Early on, I facilitated one of our first brainstorming sessions, which was The Disney Method. We divided into groups and served different roles, including The Dreamers, The Realists, and The Critics. The purpose of the exercise was to identify different common themes and territories for inspiration. The inspiration that resonated with me was “flexibility” since it paired well with the product RTBs. Upon that discovery, I began sourcing patterns and textures that aligned. Our leadership, including Stephanie Fontanez (CD), production teams, and marketing partners were truly responsible for the massive success of this project—with a collective push for creative excellence.
